This course explores the world of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), covering their types, applications, and operational challenges. Students will learn about different hull designs (catamaran, monohull) and propulsion systems (electric, diesel, hybrid) used in USVs. The course will discuss the unique challenges posed by wave and current disturbances, marine debris, and autonomous navigation in marine environments. Additionally, students will explore the diverse missions that USVs can undertake, including maritime surveillance, oceanography research, and environmental monitoring.
